Do you enjoy shows where:
a) the cast features strong, confident ladies, two of which are the main leads, and the cast is mostly skewed female;
b) space travel is a way of life and sci-fi technology is everywhere you look;
and/or
c) pirate ships and nautical terms are the order of the day?
If you do, what are you waiting for! Go watch Moretsu Pirates!!!
( Squee and some cavaets )
In conclusion, Moretsu Pirates is a jewel of a show, but you might have some issues with the way it's been carved. Still, do stick it out and make it through to ep 5. I'm told that eps 6 - 12 is much better, but I have to get there first. =)

A quick reaction post otherwise I won't be able to sleep. Avengers the movie was really that densely packed.
( Here on there are spoilers )
In conclusion: I ENJOYED IT, YOU SHOULD WATCH IT. 3D would be nifty, but 2D is perfectly acceptable too.
And maybe now I can sleep given that I got all that out of my head. =)

THIS IS WHAT
tenebris AND I GET UP TO IN OUR SPARE TIME. BECAUSE WE CAN.
TO THE TUNE OF RIHANNA'S SHUT UP AND DRIVE. BECAUSE WE CAN. SHUT UP.
I've been looking for a story that is qualified
If that bunny is the one, gotta sit down and write
I'm a fine-tuned canon loving plot machine
With a pimp laptop and my words so keen
So if you feel me let me know, know, know
Come on now what you waiting for, for, for
My keyboard's ready to do prose, prose, prose
So start me up and watch me go, go, go, go
Write out where your plot should go if you know what i mean
Got a hero and a villain that is sly and mean
Can you handle plot twists? Can you stay up all night?
If you can baby boy then we can go and write
Cos I'm 0 to 750 in three point five
Baby you got the story -
Now shut up and write
I got prose like an award winning novelist
And my wordplay'll hit you like a fist
You seem like you can handle my metaphors
You keep shootin' for the goal, but you can't score
So if you feel me let me know, know, know
Come on now what you waiting for, for, for
My keyboard's ready to do prose, prose, prose
So start me up and watch me go, go, go, go
Get you where you want to go, if you know what I mean
'Cause my plotting's smooth and I'm a dialogue queen
Can you handle my tricks? Can you take all the sparks?
If you can, baby boy, meet me after dark
Cos I'm 0 to 750 in three point five

It's time for me to confess: I like Homestuck.
I started it in Dec last year as a reward for finishing NaNo. I plowed through until Act 5 and was all starry eyed about it for the next few days. I didn't start on Act 6 because I didn't want to get into the Alpha kids yet just. (Noooo my old cast) I even sekritly put up a tag.
Then my dearest friend
himawari asked me to pimp explain Homestuck to her. So here's my attempt at summing up Homestuck!
( Were doing this were making this happen )
Don't just sit here staring at me! Go read HOMESTUCK.

Apparently I was stuck on my Homestuck pimp post (har har I so punny *shot*) for so long that my brain decided to dream about Homestuck and some other guest characters.
( Below the cut there are like, superheroes and the like )
Obviously my brain is on CRACK. And maybe I should finish that Homestuck pimp post

A bit late, but I'm proud to say that I finished my Meme March challenge. I didn't want to announce it yesterday in case you thought it was an April Fool's joke. XD
It was tough going, but there were enough challenging memes on
bakerstreet and
memebells to keep me going. There were some ideas that never even crossed my mind until I saw it in the memes! You all should check these comms out.
I also have HARD PROOF that I finished my challenge. I have a shiny new badge on my 750 words page~
( This picture is too awesome to look at without prep )
The list of stories should be going up on DW soon, even if they're all cracky crossovers.

Guys, my eyes may pop out of my head at some point in the future, but I THINK IT WILL BE WORTH IT.
I may have (accidentally) got myself into 4 new series. They are, in no particular order:
1) Korra Korra Korra KORRA
2) Moretsu Pirates
3) Nodame Cantabile
4) Homestuck
Each of those deserves a post on its own but I have been really ridiculous about them all! It took me an entire day to watch Korra, given how often I was pausing to squee/rewatching bits and OMG SO AWESOME. I stream Moretsu Pirates on my phone despite it not really being suitable for mobile phone watching! Someone watched Nodame over my shoulder on the bus and I flashed a thumbs up at him! (Ok not in RL but I was doing it in my head and I may have angled the screen so he could get a better look.) And I browse for Homestuck fanart every day!
( But let me talk about Korra in more detail )
In conclusion: Korra is A++++++++ would watch again. But with all the things I'm catching up on, I'm not bummed at all about waiting till April 21st for new eps. S'COOL I GOT THINGS TO DO.

I've got many things to update in March! So let's take this item by item.
1) Mobile Phone
I've got a smart phone! It is a Samsung Galaxy S2 and it's got a lot of bells and whistles. Me like. I've been using it to spam on Twitter and Whatsapp and check my gmail compulsively.
I have named it Jade Harley because
a) it's smarter than me
b) it's kind of dangerous but also helpful
c) my ringtone is called Sniper
d) I forgot to tell you all that I got into Homestuck (post for another day).
It has green fonts and I have Jade and Jake on my background (a battery eating white background, but it's cool!)
2) Music
While playing with my Jade phone, I discovered that Florence and the Machine remain awesome. She also covered Drake's Take Care, which has earwormed me with the actual song. Both versions are nice.
3) Meme March
While I was busy adding onto my NaNo last month I discovered meme comms! They are
bakerstreet and
memebells.
Even though the memes are typically used for RP purposes, I thought that they made for good writing prompts too. That's why I've decided to do:
MEME MARCH
It's what it says on the tin - I'll find a good meme from either of those two comms, and write a story based on its prompts. All snippets will be posted to DW. (LJ peeps: I'm not repeating where it is, sorry! It isn't too hard to find.) I've already written my first story for the month, and it's a cracktastic mishmash of Bleach, Homestuck and PMMM. (Now you understand why I'm shy about posting...)
That's my March. How is YOUR March shaping up?

I might not have talked about it, but I do enjoy shooting. I've tried air pistols and bows, and today I added "shotguns" to that list.
It was purely a coincidence - my office occasionally sends out sign-up emails for lessons. A few weeks ago they sent out an email for clay target shooting with shotguns. I immediately signed up without even checking where the place was. It's a good thing that I did, because the class ended up having 44 people and had to be split up into 2 sessions.
We had a pretty good trainer, who taught us the basics of how to handle a shotgun: loading, aiming, firing, discharging. I still remember the various holds he taught us - the slung over shoulder (hunter), the slung over arm (girlfriend) and the carry in hand (handbag) holds. XD
He also told us some of the history of clay target shooting. I learned that clay target shooting started with live pigeons. Apparently they'd put the pigeon under a hat, and when the shooter said "Pull" the hat would be pulled off and they'd shoot the pigeon as it flew away. Cos of that, the machine that fires the targets only works if you say pull.
I don't know whether it was because we had good trainers or something else, but I found the shotgun the easier weapon to master. The shotgun didn't feel like its full 4.5 kg, even though I did have a bit of an issue with pushing the barrel to load the shot, but I was able to do that in the end. I didn't have the recoil fighting me as I had with the pistol - my shoulder is a bit achy from where I braced the gun, but otherwise it's ok. I was able to aim, and I got my first two shots right off the bat. I fumbled the rest because I was thinking too hard, but once I figured out my problem (I tend to shoot slow, so instead of looking at the sight I have to look at the muzzle) I was back to nailing the target again. It was nice to see the target shatter! I did it 4 times out of 20, which is twice as good as the performance of an average beginniner.
That's why the shotgun would be my weapon of choice. And as one of the girls at the lesson said, it's great training for the zombie apocalypse!
