Week 4 of the TAR Challenge, and experiencing some fatigue! The TAR challenge is where the ladies tenebris, hallowd (Aino) and raynos (me obviously!) pit themselves against nervy characters! rabid plot bunnies! too much RL! to bring you a fixed number of words a week. This week's action is summarised below.

Words for the week: 1,286 words, meaning an average of about 210 words a day.

No of days skivved: 2
Didn't someone say downhill was better than uphill? Doesn't seem to be the case this round. Still experiencing emotional fatigue, and a tad of overdose of work. On Friday, I only managed to sit down at 3 pm and left work at 7pm. 7!!! It's amazing that I wrote at all!

Stories worked on: 2
Lunar Eclipse fell out of favour this time. I did some work on the Fraccion!verse despite the lackluster response.

The plot bunnies however were successful this week in making me write some DESERT RANGERS (Bunny 3 here).

Mediums used: Handphone and LJ
The handphone doesn't seem that great anymore, as I've only averaged about 100 words each time I use it as opposed to previously. Typing directly into an LJ post however gave me 400 words at a stretch. Perhaps entries allow for better continuity!

Characters of the week: Ichigo, Rukia and Renji.
The first two I'm sure are not new to you, but the addition of Renji in a romance sense was quite a surprise! I'm not usually one for Renji/Rukia, but lately I've found it to be strangely hot in a physical sense. Emotionally hmmm we'll see.

I wrote some things for the Ichigo/Rukia/Renji DESERT RANGERS verse that I fleshed out under point 3 here. Rough unbetaed woo-hooness, please forgive!

HALFWAY POINT for the TAR CHALLENGE. By now you should know what the TAR Challenge is about: tenebris, Aino (hallowd) and Ray pit themselves against the ARDOUS TASK of writing a fixed number of words a week! Every week, we bring to you the week's thrilling action in a nice summary.


Words for the week: 1,384 words, meaning an average of about 230 words a day.

No of days skivved: ... 3???
The above word count is impressive because it was in spite of me skivving off not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES this week, including today! Maybe my word count of 100 is a tad low-lying... Emotional upheaval still going on, but what makes things worse is that I've started writing at work again. This confuses my muse and results in funny things like minute-style fic... I wish I had a separate muse for work and for fic!

As usual, I worked on Lunar Eclipse, aka the continuation of Three-Quarters of a Dark Moon. Hopefully I'll be able to finish the part I'm working on and release some parts for you all to see!

I also worked on the Fraccion!verse, as I'm sure you all have noticed.

The surprise contender however, which I wrote 500 over words that I can't post publicly until I get the go-ahead, was a dorky PWP that I wrote last Sunday. This sounds like an occasion for Don Kanoji. BWOOHAHAHAHA!

Here comes the weekly update post for THE TAR CHALLENGE. A brief recap: The TAR Challenge (TAR for Tenebris, Aino and Ray) is a writing challenge where we three aim to write a fixed number of words a week, share and glee!

This is where I thank my lucky stars that I chose a low-lying word count of 100 words a day, as you can see from the stats below.

Words for the week: 1,101 words, meaning an average of about 157 words a day

Stories worked on:
Almost exclusively on Lunar Eclipse, aka the continuation of Three-Quarters of a Dark Moon. With the sole exception of an almost drabble on the Secret Project that is Secret No Longer.

No of stories released to public: 1
You can now read The Persistence of Tactile Memory! This is a summary of the Secret Project that is Secret No Longer, aka the Fraccion verse. It's a dark What if? AU that is intended to explore what would have happened to our Six Hearts if Aizen had taken their intrusion seriously...

I was in a bad emotional place the last two days (for reasons that I don't want to put down) so I skipped the writing on those days. Ten and Aino coaxed me into doing some words for today, which boosted the word count. Hopefully I'll feel better enough to write for the next few days.

I've had a lot of IchiRukiRen bunnies courtesy of chat with the always awesome Aino. Hopefully that translates into actual words.

It is a bit strange to be in a writing challenge without making any posts that contain fic. Luckily for you guys this week, I have decided to buck the trend and actually post something from the TAR challenge that can be read!

This can be read as a summary of the direction that I want to take on the second secret fic project (secret no more) that I'm working on. Namely, this particular project which is called the Fraccion verse. As you can see Ishida does not feature strongly in this, but he may make an appearance now and then.

Rough, unbetaed snippet which is an AU of the current Hueco Mundo arc ahead. As such, expect spoilers relating to that arc. I hope you like!

The Persistance of Tactile Memory

Unlike my other two ladies (read: tenebris and hallowd in this case), I was reluctant to announce the challenge I've been working on. With good reason I think: the last time I wrote seriously was back in early 2006. After fits and starts (including prompts for Christmas 2006 and fic for music... no I haven't forgotten and I'm very sorry!) over the next few years, you'll forgive me if I'm a bit leery about picking up the "pen" again.

The TAR challenge (TAR = Tenebris and Aino and Ray of course!) is a blessing in disguise because of that. It's a simple challenge: write a certain number of words a day for any story you like, share and glee! Simple in concept but pretty hard in execution for me: I opted for the lowest word count of 100 words a day and still missed a day.

This is why I'm happy to announce the progress of the challenge this week.

Words for the week: 1,535 words, meaning an average of about 219 words a day

Stories worked on: 1 fic and 2 secret projects
The fic is
1) Lunar Eclipse, aka the continuation of Three-Quarters of a Dark Moon

The secret projects are:
1) The fic that made me cry
2) The fic I sought the f-list's views on. Contrary to the contents of the post, it is not about Ishida. XD

As they are secret projects, I can't reveal what they are about obviously!

No of stories written on a handphone: 2.
It's a fun new medium. Also, as I write on the train it's easier than writing in a notebook as I don't have to sit down to work on my phone.

No of times I freaked: >10
For secret project #1, I've written from that character's POV only once before. I don't think what I've written is very good, but as Ten says, you can't do anything with a blank sheet of paper!

No of new character POVs I'm exploring: 2.
I've specced a lot for the 2nd character, but I haven't written anything from his POV before.

himawari requested fic for the movie Star Trek and of course I have to deliver. This is an extremely limited cross-section, given that it comes mostly from the first few pages of a set of delicious bookmarks that I haven't worked my way through yet and that there is a surprising amount of fic for a movie that is WEEKS OLD. Though fandom is arguably older. I might finish. Eventually. XD

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED READING. I KNOW I DID.

I watched Star Trek on my leave day today, again at the Cathay. I enjoyed it muchly, but it was a quiet sort of enjoyment. Like curling up with a box of chocolates and a book and not at all like the rollercoaster ride that was Transformers. Kirk grew on me, and Spock only proves again that I have a weakness for intelligent men. My only regret was that it was too short. I could've had another hour or half of the show, I would've enjoyed it!

For some reason the OTP of the show didn't resonate with me. It was very good eye candy, and I'm reading fic of it now, but definitely not a shipper. Maybe it's because my girlish crush on Spock is turning me into a green eyed monster. Well, that character can have younger!Spock, I'll take Spock Prime. Mmmm, older men. =D

Finally got around to changing my LJ layout, which makes me giggle at incredibly girly it is but should make workplace browsing a lot easier. I've also updated my icons, though fandom wise it's still extremely Bleach centric. Maybe next time!

Catching up on Bleach episodes again! I'm about a year behind, ah ha ha XD Just finished episode 167, which is the episode just behind the season of filler, and I gotta say that that was a very IchiHime ep. Meaningful looks! Spurring on of hero! Taking of hand with slight blush! The ending made me giggle, because Orihime in her white HM outfit and Ichigo in his black bankai coat made it look like a wedding or something.

Then again, during the spurring on of hero bit I said out loud "So not my ship". So I'm still an IchiRuki fan? (just a very bad one! >DDDDDDDD)

In other news, I has a question. Of the following, which of the following characteristics would be a better fit for Ishida?
(a) Sacrifice
(b) Despair
(c) Loneliness

It's for a super sekrit fic project I'm working on.

The fic at the centre of my last rather cryptic post has had me rereading very specific Bleach fic, which caused me to stumble upon this particular fic. It has put a very particular sort of idea in my head, even though I think that Byakuya would have quite a fit at it. He probably will have to live with it, I'm afraid.

Self: it is a good idea to plot a fic idea in your head, but when it makes you CHOKE BACK TEARS at a specific part? NOT SUCH A GOOD IDEA.

As a result of Macross Frontier music eating my head, I've been putting its music to anything I can get my hands on. Mostly these are Bleach episodes (with subs, I'm afraid) and the conjunction of the two make me giggle muchly. (EVERYTHING IS BETTER WITH MUSIC?)

Macross Frontier is just about the only anime that has managed to have completely eaten my HEAD in such a way that I end up humming the songs as I go around doing whatever I do in RL. XD This show is filled with so much AWESOME, I tell you, that putting together a pimp post was really really hard. The only thing that would really do it justice would be an MV, but the creators already did the BEST ONE EVAR in the finale of the show! (and if this doesn't tell you what type of anime this is, I don't know what else will. XDXDXD)

Still, I'm gonna try my best! HERE WE GO!

As you all have probably noticed, I'm slowly but surely getting back into Bleach fandom again. This was topped off by a Bleach marathon session yesterday where I finished episodes 111 to 140 minus filler (Eyes: oooow).

One thing that's struck me is how much of an ass Ichigo is being this arc. SEE EXAMPLES:

• dumps his friends to go fighting (e.g. Chad)
• dumps his family to go training (so much so that Kon actually comments "what kind of big brother makes his sister cry?". And Ichigo being the guy who beat up people for treating their sisters wrong)
• actually TELLS the Visoreds he's just there to use them (while I admire his shinigami identity leeching off people is just MEAN)
• mopes. a lot. Resulting in the need to kick his head, multiple times Maybe he's finally becoming a teenager.

And that's leaving off the Rescue Orihime bits, which I haven't reached yet (in the anime). Ichigo's really lost his chocolate. He's an untasty fighting husk at the moment.

Of course, that makes me want FIC or META, but it seems that Ichigo's such an untasty husk that no one wants to write about him and/or I can't find anything really interesting to sink my teeth into. Where can all the interesting (non-shippy) posts be???
